Tuesday, October 8, 2013 2:00pm – 4:00pm EDT

When your relationship is impacted by adult ADHD, it’s likely that you’re frustrated with the way you and your partner communicate (or don’t communicate!) This Master Class is all about calming your relationship and improving communication. Marriage Counselor Melissa Orlov will provide an overview of communication issues common to couples impacted by ADHD. She will then focus on communication techniques and tools that can be used immediately to improve how you and your partner interact, starting you both on the path to learning how to love each other fully again.

If at all possible, it is recommended that both members of a couple attend this Master Class. (However, this is not required and you will still reap the benefits even if your partner can’t or won’t attend!)

In this Master Class, you’ll:

  1. Define four common communication problems in couples impacted by ADHD
  2. Discover the importance of creating an effective verbal cue to enhance communication
  3. Learn three ways to calm an angry interaction
  4. Understand the importance of validation, and how it is different from agreement
  5. Implement at least four new tools for improved communication with your partner

Melissa Would Like to Tell You About…

The ADHD Effect on Marriage

Too often, couples who are unaware of the impact of ADHD in their relationship pick exactly the wrong approaches to solving their marital problems – approaches that would make sense for most couples, but not when one or both partners has ADHD.

The ADHD Effect on Marriage helps couples understand why things never seem to get better, no matter how hard they try – and how to change that, not by “trying harder,” but by “trying differently” so they can renew their love and joy.  The ADHD Effect on Marriage was named Best Psychology Book of the Year by ForeWord Reviews in 2010.
